shopping malls where all kinds of activities take place. This work, the Dynamics of the Awka,
Anambra State’s Shopping and Market Architecture: the case of Awka’s innovative High-Rise
Shopping malls, a new Trend adopted content base analysis with emphasis on previous work
done in the area by different authors. Awka has seen more modern day shopping malls either
in high-rise buildings or spreaded-out. Apart from the Roban stores, Awka has added the
Ultimate Plaza, All day Plaza, Zarra, Radopin, etc. a new trend in Awka. The introduction of
shopping malls in an area combines the convenience of multiple shopping privileges
essentially, promotion of a healthy shopping experience along with the social aspects that are
imaginable and attracts both young and old. It has been widely suggested that the state
government should relocate both the Eke Awka and Nkwo Amaenyi markets to decongest Zik
Avenue. To encourage the use of shopping malls in Awka, this study strongly recommends for
the area government to collaborate with investors, and build shopping malls at both Eke Awka
and Nkwo Amaenyi sites.
